Any recommendations as mine has just about given up the ghost (on/off dicky) Current one is Guitar Tech, about £15, 5 years ago. My spec guidelines are roughly
-must be clip on -vibration and sound? -colour change when in tune -not horrid garish body colours -preferably under £25.
Suggestions please so I can pass on to Santa (if he/she is listening ... ??

I recently got the Boss TU-10 in a rather fetching shade of brown It's at the top of your stated price range, but works very well and looks great.

I have an Intellitouch PT10 tuner and it is the most accurate one I've used. It changes from red to green when in tune, has an easy to read display and is the only tuner I've had that consistently picks up the bass string, even when tuned down to C. A lot of people love Snarks, but the display made my eyes hurt and it wasn't as accurate as the Intellitouch. www.amazon.co.uk/Intellitouch-PT10-Mini-Tuner/dp/B002KDHBRU

Tuning? What is this concept of which you speak?

I like the red Snark ones. Very accurate and a nice clear display. Downside is they snap if dropped on a hard floor

I like snarks and had amassed a small collection (4). Then I dropped one and broke it and 2 others stopped working, presumably in sympathy with it's ill treated brother. New batteries made no difference. I have come to the conclusion that they are not robust enough. These seem robust. I've been using one for about 18 months. Very, very good. Accurate. Clear and uncluttered display. Unobtrusive. I really recommend them. Eze Tune

I have always been a fan of the Snarks. Recently, though, I tried one of THESE.. Pross and cons: Pros: easy to fit (don't need to remove strings) and rubber clips protect guitar surface; it stays safely on guitar permanently; relatively unobtrusive, especially if you have a spruce top (the external part of the tuner is a beige colour); it seems more sensitive than a Snark; lights on it are bright and only really visible to the guitarist; copes easily with alternative/open tunings; batteries cost less than £2 and seem to last. Cons: no microphone: turning on and off requires a prolonged press of a button which, if done carelessly, can change the reference tone (440 Hz) or leave it switched on; need to remove tuner from guitar to change battery; you really need one for each instrument. All in all, I like it a lot and it has now displaced the Snark in my affections. Brian

Thanks for all your input. Too much choice now!
I quite like Lynn's comment of OK for tuning on the bass notes as my old one was always dodgy on the 6th string; usually started on the 4th and then tuned down manually from there to check. I have my guitar tuned down half a step as well.
Decision time .......

Looks good and less breakable than its parent. Will prob investigate when I drop my latest Snark on a stone floor
