I'm not sure I'd seen the triple O before. It's a fine looking instrument. Agreed - I was fortunate enough to be able to play it at Paul's Wimbourne guitar day recently - it sounded really good too, and played very easily. Keith Thanks for the comment Keith - I wasn't sure who had played what on the day.

While waiting for some bits for the vacuum frame to arrive I thought I'd try and capture a new set of tap spectra now the box is together and finish applied (still no bridge on yet): Captured traces at 20-400, 300-700 and 600-1000 Hz approx 5 traces at each setting then pulled them together in Photoshop. Yellow lines are peaks and blue dips. Just out of interest really....

That looks in grand health, Francis. It's when you get the flat line that you have to start worrying.

Too early to tell whether the falcate bracing makes for a different sound?

Too early to tell whether the falcate bracing makes for a different sound? Kym Kym, All I can say at the moment is WOW! Been positioning some little pieces of brass tube under the strings at the bridge to get a idea about where intonation will be and what sort of spread it will take. Trebles really ring and the bass is rich. Like a mix of jumbo and parlour rolled into one... Need to make another now with straight frets and the same bracing to make sure its the bracing - if it is then I think its the end of standard X bracing for me... It's that different! I'm still leaving things to settle for a day or so before I think about doing anything with the truss rod or cutting the saddle slot(s - looks like a two piece saddle at the moment).

You've got it sounding almost like a piano at the end there, Francis! Seriously, though, it does sound good. Recordings are usually pretty inconclusive, I find, but this does sound good. Well done. You must be pleased.

Always hard to tell from a recording, but it seems you've got plenty of sustain and built in reverb. Congratulations, Francis.

R the F scripsit and RosieTGC Many thanks for the comments. Just a couple of very small tweaks now and I'm done on this one (the J-185 replacement is on the drawing board....)
