Robbie McIntosh is teaching at Michael Messers Acoustic Blues & Roots Weekend 15-17 November at Pocklington in East Yorkshire, UK.
I've attended several times in the past, it's a very friendly acoustic guitar & slide teaching & concerts weekend.

Another outdoor gig tomorrow for Clean Slate and we're praying for good weather. It's Folk In The Park at New Brighton, Wirral, CH45 1LX. A mini festival of some of the finest of Wirral's folkies. It's free.

Any Londoners may or may not be interested to know of the return of Tooting Folk Club to a new home (the Gorringe pub in Tooting) after a long sabbatical tomorrow (Saturday 5 October). Main act will be The Thumping Tommys, who I don't know, but who appear to be a boisterous bunch playing mostly Irish and American trad material. Regardless of who the featured act happens to be, Tooting is I think my favourite London folk club. Always a wide variety of floorspots, who seem to me to be a cut above the norm. People do sing trad folk stuff mostly (rather than singer-songwriter material), but somehow the overall feel is a bit fresher than the rather musty and cliquey feel I get from some trad folk clubs. Tomorrow night I’m sharing the bill on a big acoustic night in Altrincham. Some interesting artists including Tracey Browne, who’s in Thea Gilmore’s band, and alt-country outfit Picnic Area (signature song: I’m Not Going To Heaven If Hank Williams Ain’t There). There are two rules - the audience is expected to be quiet during the performances (hooray!) and the performers are meant to bring some mates with them. Unfortunately I don’t have any - or at least none who are available - and all my sodding family are ill, so if any forum members do decide to go, please say you’re with me!

I'm doing a 30 minute support slot for Steve Tilston on Saturday 7th December at West Kirby Arts Centre, CH48 4EL. I'll be playing mostly my own songs with a couple blues numbers thrown in. Be good to meet any forum members there. Also, songwriters may be interested that Steve is planning to host a 2 hour songwriting Q & A workshop in the afternoon. I believe the songwriting workshop will be £15 or you can buy a combined ticket for the workshop and concert for £22.50. Iain

Would love to be there, Iain, but obvs can't - so all the best for this. There's some lovely music on that CD - I'm sure it will prove to be v popular.
Any Forum members who haven't bought it should do so immediately! You know it makes sense!
