Not much of a bling fan at all, but a tasteful 12fret inlay is something I do like. Your Manson one is a case in point Andrew, and looks v classy I think. My Alex's 12 fret inlay is even plainer - Keith

Thanks Keith...the inlay on the Alex is perfectly judged also. BTW..those strings look suspiciously similar to the Elixirs on my guitar... Are Newtones in short supply?!

I really don't like any inlays on a guitar particularly, although I must admit the two above are nice examples of what can be done tastefully with a bit of restraint and subtlety.

I like inlays, if the guitar is not overloaded. There's this signature inlay on my Akquarius

I don't mind a bit of bling as long as it sounds good. The best guitar I ever tried, bar none, was Hank Snow's D28, and in true Nashville fashion it had his name inlaid into the fretboard.

But it's not concomitant! It's not apropos!

I decided on a 12 fret only inlay on my new Brook Lyn due later in the year. It will be like this as a 'tip of the hat' to Martin Guitars which were my first 'love': Regards Phil

Phil,
That will look very tasteful - why don't you get them to do it using wood rather than shell?

As another member of the anti-bling camp, I too favour the 12th fret only embellishment. I like Dave's idea of using wood. Anyone have any examples?

I just realised that while my guitars and mandos are almost completely bling free, my banjo is quite the opposite!! I suppose I like SOME bling after all...

Phil, That will look very tasteful - why don't you get them to do it using wood rather than shell? Well............I'm sure it would look nice in wood but I like a bit of shell myself - I'm having a abalone rosette as well

I must admit i like inlays but not too over the top . My 12 string has small abalone dots and the Sigma has small abalone snowflakes . im not keen on the custom Taylor in last months acoustic mag . Just too much bling .
