I went to check out an American Pro Jaguar, in Sonic Grey but came back with a MIM 60s Laquer Jag in Fiesta Red, instead. The Pro was a stunner and with some great ideas added to it, mostly nicked from the Johnny Marr Jag and I was impressed. But the Michael Frank designed V-Mod pickups have to my ears, lost that transparent, vintage tone, that sounds so good in the 60s laquer model, with it’s American Vintage ’65 pickups and the 65s also have more bottom end. The large price difference allowed me to buy the Fender Blues Junior Mk. IV, I’d been trying these guitars through. What an improvement on the Mk.3, that I’d previously owned. Bigger tone and more presence and a vastly smoother and more useable, spring reverb. Surfs up. Fender 60s Jaguar, Lacquer, Fiesta Red. The Jaguar looks great...especially in the red colour. The specs that you gave also talk to me....the c shape neck profile and 24 inch scalelength in particular. Is it fairly similar to the Jazzmaster? I recall watching a prog about Elvis Costello and his gear set up and he waxed lyrical about his Jazzmaster.

The JM has a 25.5 inch scale and it's pickups are a lot larger, getting a slightly warmer, fuller tone. They obviously share body shape and trem units. I went for the Jag, as to my ears, it works the best with the spring reverb drenched sound, used in surf. Both are very cool and I had the Fender Troy Van Leeuwen JM, before and it was one of the coolest looking guitars I have owned.
