It sounds footery. I imagine a K&K through a Grace Felix would sound amazing. Once you get into the realms of amazing, I suppose we're still looking for that little bit more amazingness? So I'm following this thread with interest, but I'm currently trying to simplify my setup rather than make it more complicated. Once mics come into the equation, the level of complexity jumps a level! By the way, I'm *loving* that Bluesky reverb pedal jackorion. I've just rejigged my pedalboard, but it's basically a Baggs Venue DI with the Bluesky on the FX Send. I've got my first gig with it on Friday and I'm leaving my Apollo Twin Duo and MacBook Pro at home to see how it goes. andyhowell - what's a bay berry? To be fair the k&k/grace combo does sound really good - most of the time I send the xlr to the desk and use my AET onstage for my monitor and I can’t think of anything that would sound significantly better without going the mic route. But I’m still intrigued by the tone dexter, although it’s unlikely I’ll go there... The blue sky is really good isn’t it? If it wasn’t for the fact I needed to pay for the grace I’d have kept it, but my AER gives me Reverb if I want it and, as it’s only my monitor, I can adjust it independently if the foh sound

And I quite like the AER reverb as well!

And I quite like the AER reverb as well! yep the AER reverb is nice if you keep it on the lower range of the dial - it's get a bit bathroom-y to my ears if you bring it up too high! What i did love about the bluesky was the built in preset button - I used to set a normal 'just there' room sound for me regular always on verb, and then have a smoother longer decay setting on the preset for slower things or dramatic effect... damn... I want it back now!!

The blue sky is one of those pieces of kit I’ve nearly bought on numerous occasions. Fortunately a rather unusual degree of self discipline kicked in ...

Am using Tone Dexters in a multiple concert setting with multiple and very different acoustic instruments, and have had several issues with the unit. The User Interface is highly problematic. All the knobs look exactly alike and it's very easy to turn the wrong one -especially the input and output knobs during performance, and lose your carefully set levels. There are no display numbers for these crucial settings ! Also, no way to name your WaveMaps. A translation list is needed along with your song list, lyric sheets, etc. No repeatable settings at all unless you turn a knob to activate the number display. Try this while playing onstage... Very klunky. There is NO other way to change settings either-no MIDI, no well laid out footpedal-no way to link 2 units.
It would be a massive improvement to be able to store output volume and input gain per patch (WaveMap) to accommodate the very different pickups in the very different instruments that are assigned per individual WaveMap.
The backup scheme is convoluted, time consuming, requires a computer, confusing, and prone to mistakes.. It requires 2 different Operating Systems, special folders, and multiple reloading. Just daft The quality of your "Wavemaps" is totally dependent on the quality of the mic you use for the "training" process. Not to forget that it simply does not work for a number of different acoustic pickup systems . A lot of hassle and lack of important performance features for an expensive unit.

I’ve been using mine for a year and love it. You could make those criticisms about any of my preamps. It is just a preamp. If you want that other stuff buy yourself a pedal board and a Line 6.
