The problem with “me gal” has nothing to do with political correctness. The real issue is that it would ruin this. And that can’t be allowed to happen.

My guitars only leave their cases when they are played and then go straight back in. I’m a bit OCD about it. I don’t have a youth in the house any more but if I did he would be straight up to the loft.

No bellyshere, I'm afraid you can't use the phrase "me gal" these days without fear of prosecution. May I suggest a more appropriate term of endearment might be "mammal of unspecified species, gender, race, religion, height, colour, political persuasion, sexual preference, orientation or aspiration with whom I may or may not, without prejudice, be engaged in a relationship platonic or otherwise". "The youth" is just fine. bleatoid. Are you a closet speciesist? I feel some may take issue with your exclusion of other phyla? What about the birds and reptiles? Not to mention nematodes!

Gettinfg back to the subject, whilst it is obvious to all that wooden instruments are best kept in a constantly temperate temperature and humidity, i think that the damage occurs mainly if temerature changes happen suddenly and if RH goes below extreme levels for a long time.
I bought a 2008 Eastman archtop earlier this year which had been owned by a chap who spent an inheritance/win on the horses/big drug deal/closure of music shop ... whatever, on guitars and, lacking storage room at home put a batch of them into a storage facility (which I think is usually just a batch of containers or some such, and left them there for some years.
The guitar I bought did have signs of fretboard expansion and contraction and some finish checking. A Set up, some mnior regluing, a good polish and new strings (of course) - "job's a good'n!"

Great video and nice guitar. This thread has made wonder what sort of adverse temperatures and conditions if any do guitars go through when they are transported across continents by air, land and sea.
