Just a couple more thoughts on the K&K It was strongly recommended to use the k&k pre amp but as it was so happy with the AER I didn’t take that any further. Also being a passive system there’s no battery to fail!

Also being a passive system there’s no battery to fail! You're right, you shouldn't need a preamp with the AER — I've had a few of them through my AER and it is pretty easy to make them sound good!

Agreed....but it can be still v handy to have a preamp right by you for mid-set twiddles rather than going to the amp (I usually have mine a few feet away from me) and for more mid-range control if you ensure the amp amnd preamp have different mid frquency ranges.

I’ve had two Fylde guitars with the Headway and I thought it was good. I wouldn’t say is one any better or worse than Baggs, KK or Fishman. I have got a Baggs Dual Source in my Bourgeois which is good. However for amplified playing I moved over to Maton guitars and have never looked back because their AP5 pro system is brilliant. When I play live I never take my Bourgeois because quite frankly to my ears the Matons just work superbly.

OK, so, supplementary question: Does anyone have a Trinity system installed? If so, does the mic make a significant difference? I realise that an internal mic can lead to feedback at higher volumes, but that is not where I am usually at. The mic adds much more presence in the Baggs Anthem, which is why I am tempted by the Trinity as an alternative to the straight K&K. I recall saying that I don’t want to mess around with stereo out, but as the Trinity has the external preamp to handle the initial shaping, I could run the output to separate channels of my Acus 8 via a Y lead.
Any thoughts (other than shut up and go away)?
Thanks
Otis

Never tried the Trinity as I like to keep things as simple as possible! Never knowingly heard one either, sorry.

I have never tried the trinity, but I have heard it very good. On the basis that you can blend the signals, you should be able to just use a little bit of mic.
