Popped in at TAMCO this morning - not the best time of day to be on the M25, but worth it. Amidst all the 'luxury' guitars were some rather nice Kronbauers and a Taran - all the price of a factory made run-of-the-mill Martin or Gibson and offering so much more for the money. A unique place - where else in the world would you get the opportunity to view and play so many world-class instruments side-by-side? I'll try to upload some photos soon. Jonny I went to TAMCO just over a week ago, when I was in Brighton to pick up this guitar from a chap. The problem with TAMCO was what instruments to not play and to play! It's a difficult choice for what to play. I played a few Kronbauer's - there was a Ziricote one which I played which was very nice, and the Taran too. Did you play the Fredell guitar? I did, I'd be fascinated to hear someone else's thoughts of it. Off the 20 odd guitars I tried in there, the Fredell was one of the most exceptional, not my favourite, that goes to the Propsom I played (a very personal perspective though). I really liked all the Wenge guitars I tried in there.

Nice flamenco - would love to hear it.
The Kronbauer that stood out was the OM - and the Taran was good for the price.
I played the Fredell, just after the Somogyi OM, so not easy to make a fair judgement - I played Vicov's Fredell at the weekend and that was a stunning instrument. SteveH said he really liked the TAMCO Fredell.
I agree with you about the wenge guitars, all stunning. Top guitars for me were the Chasson and Claxton.

I'd like to do some recording with it soon, it'll take me a while to get used to the long scale though! It's 660mm which is making my fingers feel short and stubby.
I played the Wenge Chasson - one of my favourite guitars in TAMCO that I kept on coming back to. It had a really clean articulate sound.
If I was ever to buy or commission a rosewood or a rosewood type guitar and I was looking for a tonewood Wenge would be one of my preferred choices.

My Kostal is wenge - cheap wood, but sonically everything you'd want from the back and sides.
Funny we both fell for the Chasson - would be my pick.

Apparently wenge splitters before you even touch it... which is why many don't use it routinely. I've only ever heard good things about it though when used for guitars.

The guitar Bulerias is extra range model which highlights its color Flemish sweet melodic sound. Designed for professional use, meeting all the needs that this conlleba and they need, both personally and instrumentally, adapting it and keeping it active all his life, thanks to their design that can adapt and maintain toilet personality.

That sounds like just the model I need

They should hold "How to maintain toilet personality" workshops at the folk festivals I've been too, definitely more useful than the spoons and bodhran workshops, and it's one of the first things people let slip.

I played the Wenge Chasson - one of my favourite guitars in TAMCO that I kept on coming back to. It had a really clean articulate sound. I played the maple jumbo Chasson a couple of years ago in Tamco (they didn't have the wenge one in then) and I thought the same about that one- very very clean, piano like sound. I was struck by how un- jumbo like it was, and I still remember its sound to this day. Absolutely stunning workmanship- one of the best looking guitars in the shop I think (shortly to be usurped by a stunning looking Mark Hatcher being built for the shop). Robbie

Hope to make it to Tamco and TNAG one day, probably the best two places in the UK. I can also vouch for Kronbauer, fantastic guitar and the bonus is price, but IMO they stand up to guitars at more than twice the price-highly recommended. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted
