I often think "Double Dropped D" is much underated D A D G B D
It's 4/6ths Standard, 5/6ths Dropped D, 5/6ths DADGAD, 5/6ths Open G
Or maybe it's not enough one thing t'other.

I was thinking of retuning my old classical to an open tuning for slide. Classicals have higher action and a flat board. Should be a doddle. I just have the issue of the lifting bridge...

Well I tuned her down to open G and got the glass slide out. Not as easy as I thought because the neck is so wide. But I got better on the second run. I also began to alternate the bass string. This is fun stuff! http://instagr.am/p/CE36qVCAI_n

Sounds like you've got the slide bug minorkey Oh definitely Be warned, there's no turning back minorkey, there's no turning back now. Shame that you missed out on the slide workshops I ran a few weeks ago. Then again, I might have put you off completely.
