Most of these aren't very new but I heard them all for the first time in 2015 and they have become favourites:
Kate Austin - An Evening in Austin June Tabor - At the Wood's Heart Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker - Fire and Fortune Bridget St John - Dandelion Album and BBC Collection

Like a few others here I suspect, my CD buying nowadays is a mixture of new-to-me stuff and replacements for vinyl albums I've loved. Of the newly released CDs I acquired in 2015, a couple are worthy of recommendation (both bought at gigs by the artists concerned) - Mike Dowling - Tracks (possibly the most tasteful acoustic slide guitarist on the planet) Doug MacLeod - Exactly Like This (another slide player funnily enough, but more importantly a fabulously entertaining live act) Biggest disappointment of the year, for me, was the new James Taylor album. Just at the end of the year though, a friend introduced me to the music of someone I'd never heard of before. Chris Jones was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter who lived in Germany. His is a rather sad tale - for details, see Wikipedia - but when I heard him I couldn't believe he'd escaped my radar for so long. To me he's vocally reminiscent of Gordon Lightfoot or Jim Croce, but with a more muscular, bluesy guitar style. There are a number of people of this name on YouTube, but if you look hard enough you'll find a few of his things. To save you the trouble, here are a couple - a CD track on which the recording quality is off-the-scale good (in fact, most of the comments are people arguing about the best equipment to use to hear it at its best!), and a live video in which he demonstrates not only his phenomenal guitar skills, but also a very cool ability to push his sunglasses back up mid solo...

Steve Tilston: Truth To Tell Ange Hardy: Esteecee Folk On: You Knows It
Like Richard I was a bit disappointed with James Taylor's latest album. Nothing wrong with it in itself, just a bit derivative and samey as lots of his back catalogue to my ears. Despite having read the reviews on Amazon which mostly said exactly the same thing I still bought it, mind!

As the title says; Here goes. Sufjan Stevens - Carrie @ Lowell. ; I think the Sufjan album was the only new cd I bought this year, so I guess that's my favourite ;-) Oh yes, I also got the Lynn McFarland cd, and very enjoyable it is too!

Cass Country by Don Henley of The Eagles. To me this is not only the best CD of 2015, I think that it's the best CD of the past five years. Very diverse and I'm forever playing it.
