THIS is a cheaper variation on the superb Elliotts, which I get on well with. Brian

So, went down to see the guitar tech yesterday, and he showed me a G7.
I liked it enough to buy one, it's a rather elegant techy solution which appeals to the nerd in me.
Wee bit pricey, so hopefully it lasts.
I did love the Elliott capo video from michaelwatts though, very classy.

In the US this has a lifetime guarantee not sure if that is true here.

I use a Shubb S1, stainless steel with a roller rather than cushioned screw point on the adjuster. Works well on my Oberon which has a very pronounced V profile neck. Tried a G7th and just couldn't make it work, probably me!

Standard Shubbs on guitar and use the foreshortened one for banjo/mandolin/'zouk. They're quick to fix on, easily adjust to different necks and they just work. They also develop nice patinas, like COGs.
The only other acoustic capo I have is a GM for square neck dobro. Well made, and again it just works.

Update: I've moved to the Shubb as my main 'static capo'. For some reason the G7, more than not gave a buzz on one guitar, no matter how tight I had it.

Yes, I've had problems with G7 not being tight enough occasionally.

I liked my G7th Performance 2 to start with as it didn't change the tuning. But sometimes its not tight enough. If you knock it while playing it can move. I've gone back to my Planet Waves NS. I'm tempted to try the G7th Newport next.

My go-to is my planet waves NS pro; although it is not an instant one hand move it holds the tuning well and doesn't slip.
As I've got a big birfday in 2 weeks I'm getting a treat with a Thalia capo; possibly a bit bulky for my liking but has had some good reviews on this forum from a couple of users. Probably couldn't justify it for the price normally but you're only 35 twice (and in my case it will be twice)!

Planet Waves classical. I use it on three guitars, and it doesn't fit the neck profile on any of them. I used to worry that all the pressure is on one spot, and it's not even in the middle. But after a couple of years nothing has happened so I've mostly stopped worrying.

I have two Shubbs which I'm very pleased with. One "old" type with a point, and the "new" one with a wheel. In fact, I prefer the old one.

As per so many posts there's issues with some neck shapes where some capos struggle.
So far I have preferred to use a G7th on acoustic guitars but the Vintage Giltrap signature is very nearly too big in the neck for it to work.
As well as the issues of tuning, buzzes and ease of changing capo position there is another factor for me in capo choice.
Tone.
I have a basic spring build capo which is very secure on tuning and has no buzzes but on some guitars it adds a harsh edge to the tone of higher notes. Which sounds fine at first because of its impact and sound projection, but very soon gets very irritating. It does have a plus that the end of that capo has a useful tool for removal of bridge pins, so I've kept it.

Always stuck with G7's myself .. although Scott at Elliot capos is producing some fine capos that seem very good.
