I'm waiting on delivery of a Roland AC40 and now want to invest in a decent lead. I've always been a bit of a tightwad in that regard. All advice/suggestions appreciated. John

I was going to say Pete Cornish, until I saw the tightwad bit... I urge you not to look...

The Cleartone ones look good Keith. And the angled jack idea also. Someone mentioned a while ago (it may have been you) that an angled jack provides extra security to ensure the strap can't come off the end pin. I'll wait a while for any more replies and then decide. John

If you're going to take your guitar for a walk in a place where children might be playing you'll not just need a lead but a muzzle, too. And some little plastic bags.

I think most leads are pretty decent, these days. I like Fender leads.
Remember, the longer the lead, the more signal you'll lose.
Good luck.

For the most part (at home) i'll be within a short distance of the amp. No more than a few feet I suppose but, planning ahead, just in case I tread the boards again perhaps a 3m lead would cover both. What length do you use ? And the Fender Custom shop yellow leads look cool as well. Not that i'm that childish that I would decide based on the colour of course. John

... the Award Session ones I mentioned come in whatever length you want - have 2m, 3m and 6m ones. Typically, the 3m ones are often just a little short for my purposes, and the 6m usually too long, though the latter are very handy for walking out well forward of the speakers for an idea of what the punters might hear.
Some of them have "silent" unplugging jacks - they don't work too well unless you go really slowly, so, for me at any rate, not worth the extra cost.
My guitar leads are black, but I had blue for my mic leads - easier to distiguish then. I do have one yellow mic lead - always easy to find - and nobody else can claim it belongs to them!

Another vote for the Fender ones, angled at one end. Good and thick, and resistant to kinking I think.

I try to resist doing Pete Townsend style windmill strums and jumping splits. Nothing wrong with choosing leads by colour.

I played in a band last Sunday evening, outdoors. One mic to sing into, one mic to play into. Is a plugged-in acoustic guitar an electric guitar with a soundbox?

The new thicker Fender cables are fine.

Crowd? I wish!!! Keith Not strictly necessary. Apparently. Take a look at @holdthisbeer's Tweet:
