Sadly, I suspect that, despite its tonal qualities, this guitar will be bought by a collector, or, even worse a speculator, and will rarely be played.
But you're right. It is bloody horrible to look at.

Oh dear, oh dear. NOOOOOOO! A bit of a departure from their usual qualities of understatement and good taste. Mark

Agreed! For me, makes no sense. All those inlay details in the back wich is barely seen when the guitar is played. What a waste of money! I was surprised with the sale on US. I remember to read on GL Facebook that this guitar was bought by UK based guitarguitar

It's just ugly. It will never be played properly.

"...the story of Genesis, from the Big Bang through to the creation of man and woman" I'm no expert on either side of the science v religion debate, but this sounds like George is hedging his bets somewhat!

Bloody awful. Glad other people think so, as I was thinking I needed a taste transplant!

I understand the intent, however I'm not particularly impressed with the execution either.
It'll make some dentist very very happy...

More like "Revelations" than "Genesis" Mind you as it's going to Las Vegas it's probably "under dressed" - an orange toupée would finish the back off nicely

Publicity stunt to appeal to the Merkins, who seem to to like this sort of tasteless excess. But, having said that, 20,000 guitars is quite an achievement - don't see why GL shouldn't celebrate that however he wishes. Keith

Stupid question: 20,000 serial number means 20,000 guitars? Tremendous achievement, indeed!

Stupid question: 20,000 serial number means 20,000 guitars? Tremendous achievement, indeed! ...probably slightly more, as they restarted the serial numbers at one point in their early history. Keith

hey guys, why all the worries! Nobody will see these inlays while the guitar is played!
And, franky speaking, why all the bashing? it might look ugly to some of us, but did anybody actually hear it? I still think that the sound of a guitar is more valuable than the looks....
