Thanks for the info, Iain. I thought it was a nice, unusual guitar and sounded decent too. I didn't find any playability issues, although it had been setup by the shop luthiers (yes, they have a few ). I also thought it was a bit pricey, so good to know you agree. I passed on it for now

Speaking of Zenta, another very interesting example has come up for sale near me, at a much more palatable £100. Anyone like this?

Martin My Zenta which lavaman kindly worked upon for me is still a pig to play in standard but is fine for slide. The brand used to be sold by Woolworths. My guitar has a telecaster shaped body but is a little smaller and a lot thinner than the real thing and the electrics are totally different. I shall bore you with the history at Halifax. I think that £100 is still a little expensive. Ged.

geddarby Why not take your Zenta to HB8? Martin might be daft enough keen to buy it. Iain

Although it's crap I still like it too much to get rid of it.

It looks like an exact (visual) copy of the Gibson Les Paul Recording, which at one stage in the early seventies was the most expensive of the Les Paul range. I had a (Gibson) version for a while, and it was completely crap for rock and roll. The model was designed for Les Paul's personal use and so was really set up for jazz style DI in the recording studio, as the name implies. Very low impedance pickups and a range of switches and knobs which did nothing to improve bite in a normal tube amp. Heavy as, too. Kym

I remember that red Zenta model from way back, in the early 70s. They were terrible, then. A friend had the bass version, what a heap. It was a few years later before the Japanese started to make great stuff.
