Nothing very important if you don't use Martin strings, but if you do, they've gone and given their whole range new names and catalogue numbers. For ages I've been wondering why Thomann seemed to be out of stock of my fave strings (Martin Acoustic SP PB or 80/20 in 13s), but then I checked the Martin site and they are still there but with new packaging and catalogue numbers. Not sure if it means a new string formation, will have to get a set and listen. For example, Acoustic SP 80/20 13s used to be called MSP3200 (the PB version MSP4200), but are now called Authentic Acoustic SP MA150 (the PB version MA550). Just in case anyone wondered or was interested... www.martinguitar.com/strings/

Its conforming to a new EEC regulation regarding the standardisation of all strings used on non `EU' made instruments. You will find that all EU based string producers are still using the same packaging and string classifications as they have done previously.

EEC ? Bit out of date isn't it? some time ago, I lost the plot with Martin strings so I use D'addario pretty much exclusively now. EJ17s - dreads/jumbo/National EJ16s 000/00/l-oo Ej37 - 12 string (plus Martin m190 on my old Harmony) j-74 - mando - on Dobro. just ordered the whole lot on ebay from Craig's Music (reddansette) in Bodmin (bloody good blokes!)
