Was lucky to see this guy yesterday at Pendle Guitar Festival. He did a concert then a workshop later. There are many videos on youtube but few, in my opinion, that demonstrate the good sound he produced in the hall with his Maton and a AER60. These two are reasonable. Hope you enjoy Cheers Phil

My main instrument is: probably needing new strings

I preferred the 2nd vid ... the first, whilst undoubtedly technically brilliant, just looked (and sounded) like showing off to me (and not in a good way) Having said that, I didn't like the 2nd video much either. But, then, I'm a philistine ...

Clever chap, though as Leo says, more technique than musicality - not something I'd listen to on a recording - would no doubt enjoy being there though - different thing altogether! The video sound is a long way from my cup of tone - thin, quacky and waaaaaay too much reverb. Judging by the applause, it doesn't sound like the room was especially large (though it depends what was used to record - may be out of order here!) - could he not have played acoustically? I presume he's using v light strings and the amp as part of his technique - nothing wrong with that really, maybe I'm having a COG moment! Must have been lots of other interesting stuff at the Pendle Fest Phil........ Keith

But, then, I'm a philistine ... I suppose some may say 'showing off' but there is also 'showmanship' and even 'virtuosity' and in my opinion this guys concert that I saw was definately not showing off I can assure you. There was a very varied set of tunes, fast, slow, ballads, ragtime, jazz (ie showing off ) country type, etc. Here's another version of 'Nuages': Do you like this Leo? Hold on - just read that you didn't like the 2nd video either!! you are a philistine Cheers Phil

Keith Hi Keith - I did say that these vids were the best sounding of a bad bunch picked off YouTube and not from yesterday. It was much better whilst there in the hall. Click on this to hear a sample of what he played and the live sound was much nearer to the cd sound than the vids: Adam Palma WebsiteThe Pendle Guitar Festival is rather a grand title for a trade show really so there was plenty of guitars to look at, Stuart Ryan doing a Contry Guitar 'Masterclass' that was quite interesting then a very loud ( ) blues rock band prior to Adam's set and workshop. All of it well worth the £5 entrance fee Cheers Phil

Gotcha re the vids Phil - my misunderstanding. And you're right - the music on the webpage link you posted has a far more enjoyable tone, and lots of variety too.
In all honesty though, I much prefer listening to your recordings.
£5 sounds a bargain too!
Keith
