Am I alone in finding them sick & wrong? I seem to see loads of them in my roles as open mic MC and music leader with young people.

They are a moral affront to right thinking people.

It is difficult to see how the colour Blue should be so "mythical", as i see the colour described. Is it not just blue.
Not a fan of any colour on acoustic guitar anyway tbh - I like to see grain in the wood, and if it's made of wood what's wrong with wood colour anyway.

For acoustics I prefer wood finish, or maybe black. I’m not even sure about sunburst on an acoustic. For an electric, anything goes but there’s something special about natural wood like Bruce’s Telecaster on the cover of Born to Run.
Having said that my next guitar may be red....

PistolPete - maybe it's time for you to join the swelling ranks of the Curmudgeonly Old Gits. What's wrong with blue guitars. Here's mine, a USA strat for £300. Magic.

Nothing wrong with blue as a colour for a strat, that's not what I said. (That said if I was buying a blue strat it would probably need to be more of a surf-y sky blue ) It's things like this that make me feel unwell: Acoustic guitars in natural, sunburst or any shade of brown, perfectly fine. Acoustic guitars in red or black, acceptable, if a little flashy. Acoustic guitars in white, if you must, it will go nicely in the back of your boy-racer hot hatchback. Acoustic guitars in blue, just plain wrong.

How do you stand on this one? It’s art but I suspect the answer will be “heavily and in hobnailed boots”

Ok pete I agree that blue acoustic is particularly nasty, although far worse in my humble opinion is a solid gloss white finish.

I have been told that blue acoustic guitars will lose their tone after manufacture and they will eventually drain the life force from their owners. Oh dear !

There is no middle ground here and perhaps the best way to achieve clarity of thought on the matter is this.
Would you want to buried in a coffin that colour?
Thank you.

Blue is bloody horrible. Mind you, why hasn't anyone tried purple. Have I missed the point here?

I think a lot of these coloured acoustics (and I include the sunburst in this) are just put on to cover some very average wood that the manufacturers are using. The exception may be Dave Evans, he of course built his own guitars and had three with different coloured tops, one red, one blue, one green. He kept them in different tunings so that on stage he knew he just had to pick up the red guitar for standard tuning, blue for DADGad etc.
Wood should be wood coloured!
