Sad indeed that another publication in a specialised music field is gone, and not unusual in these days of mass pap and mediocrity where visuals and personalities are more important than the art form. We live in an increasingly uncultured philistine society / world.
I think we are in the Age of (Wilful) Unenlightenment. Oh dear .... I am in a happy mood this morning. Mark

Very sad but not surprising really. Despite the breadth of coverage it all began to seem a little old. YouTube video interviews seem to me the future, for example, The Bluegrass Situation which carries not only music but some of the most sensible interviews on music you will ever see.
Hopefully they will make it but in the mean time check out:
The Current E Town Blues Grass Situation
World music is pretty much covered elsewhere as well.
I shall miss froots though.

It’s a massive shame and creates a huge vacuum for uk and Irish folk music. The world music covers coincided a lot with Songlines so that’s not quite such a loss, but there’s a whole slew of acts that hardly get mentioned anywhere else. The more eccentric or purist English and Irish folk acts just don’t get reviewed or interviewed anywhere else. People like Mary Hampton, Alasdair Roberts. Cath & Phil Tyler, Jason Steel, Michael Rossiter, Rapunzel & Sedayne, the Owl Service, Lisa knapp or You Are Wolf. Bands like Stick in the Wheel and Kacy & Clayton got given big features before most people had ever heard of them. Almost nobody else covers this stuff and the few that do generally first encounter it via fRoots. It will mean fewer gigs, less airplay and fewer album sales for a lot of the most interesting folk musicians
