The main thing that gets me is the 'kin word Brexit itself. It's just a short form of British Exit, what spotty faced idiot of a child in the Government decided that was too difficult for us to say if it had an extra five letters. Unless I'm mistaken it was actually Peter Wilding who is/was not in the government but don't let that spoil a good rant about Brexit

Technically, the term “British” (and therefore “Brexit”) excludes Northern Ireland, so it’s inappropriate on that score too. Still, it’s not as if the NI aspect is likely to cause any probl.....oh.

Back to the original subject.
At Summer NAMM I had two conversations with Chris Martin. Initially we were talking about antique guitars. After a while he asked if he could show me something and produced a guitar case out of a cupboard (closet). I said I had a horrible feeling I knew what it was and yes when he opened the case there it was. Actually it was the prototype. He asked why it had provoked such a negative reaction as he had been in London at the end of March and thought it would be topical. His cousin had produced the design for the top. I explained that there was a very polarised situation in the UK and that he might have got the same reaction at home if he’d produced a Trump guitar. (He’s a liberal). I said that had he made it the F**k Brexit guitar it might have sold quite well. “Oh! So I was just one word short! “. At that point only one production guitar had been built in addition to the prototype.
The next day I was walking past the Martin stand and a voice said “Oh, it’s you again!”. We had another good conversation and I explained what the loss of the right to work in 27 other countries would mean for musicians in terms of work permits and possibly visas.
Liked him a lot actually.

Do you have any sense, Chris, of how many of their pictorial (ie not the CEO) limited editions Martin typically sell?
I think they generally look awful and can only assume that the market comprises a small number of (U.S.?) collectors.
Also, from your knowledge of the market, do any other manufacturers produce similar limited edition monstrosities?

With the exception of one with a cowboy on it which I wouldn’t buy but is just about bearable visually, I think they are tacky and detract from the Martin brand. Can’t think of any other manufacturers doing the same thing.

Collings do cowboy stencilled guitars on their C10s and on some Waterloos, but then they’re in Texas....not to my taste at all, but I think it’s something of a traditional thing in their neck of the woods.
