I'm looking for a small guitar (OM or smaller) under £500 available in the UK that has a bridge string spacing of at least 57mm. Any suggestions please?

Sadly not. That would make things easy since 55mm is pretty much standard. But it's not wide enough for me. 57mm is the minimum I'm after though it's hard to find in all but high end guitars.

Tanglewood makes an Orchestra model with approximately 57 mm bridge string spacing. I bought mine for less than 500£ (but in Swedish currency) three years ago. Unfortunately they have become more expensive now and are only offered with built-in microphone for a bit more than 700£. At least that’s what their website says. But you could probably find a used one in the right price range. The model name is TW 40 O AN (E).

Thanks, Lars. I'll check that out.

I have a Sigma OMM-ST+ which is 57mm at the bridge and 44.5mm at the nut, they are about 220 quid. They do a slightly fancier OMT-28H+ for about 400.

That sounded interesting and I checked it out. It's definitely a possibility except that, though I didn't mention it, I would prefer a short scale (25" or less) if I can get it. Nobody quotes 57mm for the bridge string spacing but I presume you have measured that yourself. Many thanks.

You're right, string spacing at the bridge is the least mentioned spec. I did measure it, yes but they are 25.4" scale length.

Thanks. I certainly won't kick it out as a possibility and the Sigma spec suggests that the necks are quite shallow which I appreciate since I like to be able to fret the sixth string with my thumb.
