I have really enjoyed this series of videos from Steve, another excellent one. I amazed he has the strength to keep up the schedule, since losing his son a couple of weeks ago.

That guitar has some neck! I'd love to try sliding on it! And in amazing condition!

Indeed that is a great version of a lovely song. I've kind of lost touch with Steve Earle these last few years. There was a time when I bought everything on the day of release. Not sure what happened really, maybe there were a few CDs that didn't connect and then the connection was broken. Same thing happened with Springsteen.
I saw Steve Earle when he was doing his bluegrass tour with Del McCoury and again on a solo tour. He's such a cool story teller - one great story about how he went to Nashville, and needing a place to stay, was invited to stay with Townes Van Zandt. Townes said to him before he did anything else, before he tried any more song-writing, there were two books Steve should read. Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee and War and Peace. So Steve set to work, and fought his way through both works, page by page, over many many long days. Afterwards, he said to Townes, "I've read those. What now?" And Townes said, "War and Peace. Tell me what happened in it. I never could read that one."
