Oooh, a real gem.
I don't like live albums very much although one of my faves is Darrell Scott's Live at the Station Inn.
So I was interested in his new live offering Joroso, bought it and it is simply gorgeous.
The album was recorded in a tiny church in Joroso on the Mexican border that has been restored by an old musician friend Mark Dudrow.
The audience was recruited by word of mouth only and was a couple of dozen strong. There was no PA ust a four track recording — voice instrument and a stereo mix set up on the audience.
What you get is a very intimate concert with Scott's original songs, well chosen covers, his guitar and banjo. And a wonderful singing along audience. There is a great song about his Gibson Hummingbird!
If you've not heard of Darrell check him out on YouTube. If you know his work, well, this is superb.
