When Francis made my beautiful 'Lacey', one of the challenges I set him was if he could do a 'bevel' for me; it turned out this would be a first for him. The end result however is superb and I love it both as a feature but also for the comfort it gives. I've attached here a close-up of what he did for me. In the mail this week I got my copy of the Taylor House magazine called 'Wood and Steel'. In this issue there is a feature on their flagship 800 series where they've upgraded on some models to add an 'armrest'. I've given a link below to this feature where there is a 3 minute video of how they make the armrest. In the blurb it says that the armrests 'require careful attention from our most skilled craftspeople'; Francis, there may be a job going for you in California or Mexico! I guess the machining and tooling in the Taylor video is significantly different to that which Francis did for my one-off. Would be interesting to have Francis' take on doing a bevel, and of course from our other Luthier friends here.
