Hi,
There's probably been threads on this but rather than search perhaps those with knowledge can post basic details.
Simply I'm looking for an external webcam which will allow my Zoom guitar and vocals to be an improvement on the lousy computer built in stuff on my laptop. A couple of friends have a Logitec C270i and there is a definite improvement on the laptop. I don't need anything complicated, just plug in (via USB probably) and works and not looking at anything high end. The Logitec seems to come in at about £45 and I would be loath to spend a lot more than this.
Suggestions welcome.

It seems to do the job; certainly had no complaints from my “viewers”.

That's interesting Onechordtrick . What do they say for those who have a MacBook? They’d probably make a circle of salt and chant an incantation to expel the demons. Been trying to get them to let me have a Mac for ages without success. I’ll test it on my Mac Mini in the morning if that helps?

I guess from your reply that you are using it for guitar over Zoom and not just audio? J

J No it's purely for work Teams/Zoom calls But the camera has a good wide angle and the microphone seems OK, if you want a higher quality I’d suggest that you got a separate USB microphone

Having done a lot of streaming video over the past 16+ years online, I have found the Logitech C920 to be about the best cam for the money.

I also have a Logitech C920, bought in 2013 and I'm surprised to see the model is still current and available in 2021. I would think that is probably a positive sign of its durability. Anyway, I can thoroughly recommend it as it has proved to be much better than any previous cams I've ever had. There is also some useful and easy to use Logitech Capture available to use with it.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago, and even for £20 it's a big jump in quality from the inbuilt one on a laptop (even my wife's laptop, which is high-end compared to mine). Wansview Webcam on AmazonThe microphone is ok rather than brilliant, but I'm using an external mic and an interface, so I wasn't too worried about that. The other thing with any webcam, is to make sure there's plenty of light and it's reaching your face. Small cameras just don't cope well with the 100W-bulb-in-the-centre-of-the-room set up, so another source of light makes a dramatic difference to the quality you can expect.
