Are there such things as Shubb knockoffs? I had a Shubb. It was the worst, most annoying accessory I've ever bought. Just dreadful

Very happy with my Thalia for the last three years, it's the best capo I've ever owned (never tried a G7 though...) Just make sure you get the right fret pad insert set for your guitar (there's a list on their website). I needed to order the "High Tension" version for my Lowden recently (only a couple of quid even with shipping from US), and have always preferred the teflon to the rubber. www.thaliacapos.com/

I've been using the Shubb for about 3 or 4 years now. For whatever reason, it just happened to be the one in my guitar case when I stopped losing one every month. It works well enough, with occasional tinkering to reposition the rubber sleeve. I had the Planet Waves NS Lite ocarolan mentioned & I thought it was great, until the day I went to put it on and it had a crack in the plastic that meant it wouldn't tighten anymore. I replaced it with a chunkier K&M one that worked along similar lines that did exactly the same thing. So yeah, if you are going to get one of those, splash out on the metal version. Sprung ones can vary a lot, even if you get the same brand sometimes the springs just seem to be super stiff making them too tight.

I got a G7 Performance 1 around 15 years ago and it still works perfectly. I am just surprised I haven't lost it in all these years

I went for the G7 performance. I don't think you'll go wrong with that Frankie. I have a G7 performance 2 without the ART technology and it's been reliable. The main one I use now is the G7 Heritage which is a super bit of kit but quite pricey. Phil

First Shubb bought in the early 80s from Ivor Marantz. Total game changer. I still have it (it still works) and a load more. Email Shubb and Rick Shubb replies! No question the best value and most reliable and long lasting, I’ve tried/owned/own virtually all othe rest of the well known names. G7 Performance 3 is good and handy. I prefer the G7 Newport to the Schubb but you can’t go wrong with either!

Another vote for the Planet Waves NS (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Planet-Waves-PW-CP-10-Artist-Capo/dp/B00GTSM8FW), which is just so easy. There is a version with one of their little tuners attached, neat. I like the G7th Performance too. I was lucky enough to be given an Elliott Capo for Christmas one year, and I would use that "if it was important" <grin>.

I own what some may regard s expensive nstruments, and I use Blue Chip Picks -at least one per instrument. If there weer a better capo, I'd buy it (or some.
I use the basic shubb C1 - the original with the little delrin tip on the end of the screw. They work. They are small, and they last forever. Suits you sir!

Oh no that’s not the original 😂 My early Shubb just had the metal prong, no delrin tip. Rick’s seen a picture of it and commented that it was a really early one before the tip change.

I had a great capo for my uke, a pencil held on with an elastic band. It worked pretty well!
