Well, ish... I just realised the strings on my Tanglewood in my profile pic are the same set it came with, 10 years ago! The Fender has been restrung a few times since 2004, but the T'wood has never had its wires replaced. I know I don't play as much as you lot but even so, they still squeak after 10 years! God knows what brand they are or what they're made of! I feel like I should treat her to new strings but well, they still play, and I'm skint. 10 years though. Can't get over that...

The Lord giveth... but expects me to change the strings? I consider it my Lenten penance - and it often takes me all 40 days for the b*stard slotheads...

10 years? ?? I think the longest I've ever gone is three months, and even then it was probably because I wasn't playing the guitar very often... do they stay in tune? Maybe it's because I'm fiddling around moving to tunings etc but I find after a month or so my strings are best their best... but I do play for at least a couple of hours most days...

Come to think of it, my electric bass which I bought in 1981 is only on it's third set of strings. I think electric bass strings just get better with age, unlike me.

I think the shiny pickup cover went at the same time to 'update' it.

I'm sure I have guitars that have had their current strings for 3-4 years, but those are not the ones getting played everyday, and when they are in regular use they get replaced every few months.

The strings on my Silver Oak have been on since the middle of last year. I keep thinking I ought to change them but it sounds so nice.
Maybe next week....

I've not changed the strings on my bass since I bought it in 2007. Don't play it much, but they stay in tune and intonate correctly, so I can't see the point.
Guitars though, I change strings on regularly. Even the slot head 12 string. Bastard thing. I do like the brightness of new strings.
