Anyone got any good sources or recommendations for acoustic guitar tabs/notation for John Dowland lute pieces? Happy to buy a book version if it's good. Feel free to post nice YT teaching or performance vids too, if you know of any good ones.

I shall have a look, I'm sure I have some in a book somewhere, perhaps in one of the Renbourn books.

I think I’ve got a book of easy Dowland pieces it’s more of pamphlet than a book from the 70s. I haven’t seen it recently but I don’t throw much out and I haven’t moved house in over 30 years.

I recorded all of the Dowland lute pieces for the RCM archives some years back, unfortunately I only have the original lute tablature, but most music libraries should have the notation. I do have a book by Diana Poulton and Basil Lam (The Collected Lute Music of John Dowland) of about 100 Dowland lute pieces but they are in lute tab, it is sometime available on ebay or Amazon in paperback but is quite expensive, usually around £70. But as I said it's in lute tab, not guitar tab, but of course you can always retune the guitar.

Thanks, I'll investigate what Lute tuning is!

If you tune the G string down to F# you will have the relative pitches of a lute and, with a capo on 3, you'll be in the most common lute tuning of G C F a d g.
