I forgot about this from a few weeks ago. I have always struggled swapping from one guitar to another unless the neck width and/or the scale length etc are the same and this year I have watched Clive in live streams changing seemingly effortlessly from one guitar to another. The opportunity to ask this question arose on Instagram so I asked it....... linkHope the link works because I'm not sure if you have to have Instagram app on your device. Also not sure if anyone is interested in this but I thought maybe some could be? Phil

I found that interesting Phil, thanks - good analogy with cars I thought. If I swap I swap from my acoustic to a resonator or to a mandolin so I don't really have a problem with swapping over. He goes into fine details doesn't he. I find the mandolin forces me to get into these areas even if I don't swap. I wonder if it is true that with a mandolin, as everything is much smaller, then you have to be more precise. I really notice the slightest change when fretting behind the fret or almost completely over it - on the brink so to speak. I'm constantly adjusting the instrument in an effort to get both hands relaxed.

I can echo the thumb pain with very shallow necks! Keith I get that thumb pain on shallow necks too. I need at least 1 3/4 nut.
