Thanks for highlighting this Chris. I met Martin quite a few times at Les Cousins, and learned an incredible amount from him on how a song should be accompanied, along with Bert the greatest influence on my playing. I've said on here before that I believe Norma had the perfect voice for the English tradition. Donation sent.

Thanks for flagging Chris. Very sad (and also sadly replicated in many homes around the country). Donation sent.

Thanks for this Chris. Contribution sent - the music of the Waterson/Carthy clan has brought me so much joy over so many years.

I really can't understand this, surely at their age they qualify for the old age pension and live on it just as I and millions of other people do. Do they have some unusual expenses or circumstances that I don't know about?

Maybe if you had given me as much joy and inspiration over the last 50+years as Martin and Norma have then I'd be happy to send you a donation as well!

I don't require a donation thank you, I'm just wondering why they do. Frankly, I'd be embarrassed if one of my children asked for donations for me just because I was old and sick, I was curious to know if there are exceptional circumstances that's all.

Very sad, RIP Norma.
I've said on here a number of times that Norma had the very best voice for the English tradition, she always sung with great feeling. I met her a number of times, always willing to share her love of the music. Eliza has learned a lot from her parents, so all is not lost.

Sadly/ironically, Stratford PlayHouse has just introduced it's new Folk Club, with first act Martin Carthy on February 17. This would be a difficult gig to do, if it is going ahead.
