Very sad to hear that Rab died earlier today.
I only saw him once in concert - but love his music.

I heard this earlier too. Had plenty of opportunity to see him live, but sadly never took one.

Sad news indeed. I saw him fairly recently in concert with Brooks Williams, he was in good form and played “Gently Does It” his tribute to Alex Campbell when I requested it.

Just read about it on the Beeb news site. Very sad. He wrote some great songs and was a stalwart performer for many years. Wish I'd seen him play live. He'll be sorely missed. RIP.

This is a sore one. A huge figure in the Scottish music scene; more as a producer over the last few years but he could still command a stage when he performed. I rarely missed a chance to see him perform. Gently Does It is probably my favourite too, geddarby.

I’m so sad to hear that news…Rab was a regular performer at the Crown folk club in Edinburgh back in the late 60’s and early 70’s…often in the company of Archie Fisher and Barbara Dickson. I still play “together Forever” …a great opening or closing song. RIP and thanks for all the inspiration.
