I have played with my old mate "Mando Bob" for at least thirty years on and off. We are currently "off" as I am running my club as a solo singer-guitarist and emcee (is that a word?), and Bob isn't playing.
He has a very expensive Weber F5 fern and I have a wonderful Jiri Lebeda F5 Premium which I don't plan to sell anytime soon, but have had no opportunity to play it for some years.
At my club on Friday I was approached by a chap who had a rather nice A5 style mandolin that he was hoping to sell.
It occurred to me that now that Trevor Moyle's The Acoustic Music Company (TAMCO) in Brighton, I can think of nowhere that deals with quality mandolin family instruments.
Any thoughts?

I bought my Hathway mandolin pre-owned from Hobgoblin. Don’t know whether it’s only stuff they take in part exchange or what their model is though.

I don't think there is anywhere. There was a Lebeda and another Czech one on eBay for about two years, and a high quality Davidson that is still there and has been on there for about the same time (although I think it's a bit overpriced). Why did The Acoustic Music Company fold? Was it age of the owner or not selling enough?
If you hear of any left handed quality mandolins for sale can you give me a nod?

I know, its a dilemma. I had hoped that when I retire soon I would buy myself a very nice mandolin family instrument again, but....where to find a Weber now? I think Eagle Music in 'Uddersfield sell Webers at least. They seem to regularly stock some pretty high end 2nd hand mandolins. But its very difficult if you want to try a batch. And, if what you really want is a mandola like me, you are virtually stuffed. Plenty of places are selling Eastman now, but even trying to find a Collings in a Collings dealer if impossible. However, there does seem to be some nice UK luthiers to go to if you wish to commision (Shippey being my favourite).
