The day before I visited the local guitar shop, I looked on their website, and someone had just traded in a guitar, that I have been keeping my eye out for, for at least a couple of years. The guitar was a PRS se Custom, 24 fret on a Rosewood fretboard, 25 inch scale length, 2 Humbucker pickups with coil splitting switch (giving a guitar sound of single pickups), the neck is classed as wide and thin . The weight is approx 5 lbs and is a pleasure to play, it has a great sound, this could be a keeper. I'll post a couple of photos.

Nice guitars these. Super smooth trems too. Congrats. Hi Grayn Thanks for the nice comments. It's the first time I've ever had or played a PRS Guitar, must admit I'm very impressed with it. I've wanted a PRS Guitar for a few years, and this was the first chance I've had, so literally grabbed it. Like the light weight, and using the recommended string gauge of 9s, can play the guitar Fingerpicking style all night without getting sore fingers.

Sounds like you have a guitar that'll get a lot of play. Why not put the trem arm in and do some light, fluttering tremolo, at the end of a big chord, preferably with some reverb, it'll add some lovely ambience to your playing.

Hi Grayn
The reason the trem arm isn't fitted is due to it not been in the nice padded bag that the guitar came in, the guitar shop are getting me a new , trem arm in a week or so, but will do as you said as soon as it shows up. 😃 Well it's definitely had more than a few hours play now, and the more I play it the better I like it.

Hi Grayn Had the PRS guitar over a week now, and played it every day since I got it, and can confirm that it's my favorite guitar of all time. The guitar shop that I got the PRS from, got me a new whammy bar, truss rod adjustment socket and small Alan key for adjusting the saddle height, as they were not in the guitar case. Yes I've used the whammy bar as you recommended, and can confirm it sounds very good for some lovely ambient sounds.

Lovely guitar and really comfortable weight too. PRS make great guitars and although opinions are always divided, I think they are something of a bargain at a time when Gibson and Fender are selling their guitars at eye-watering prices, certainly for their distressed options. I had a Custom 22 and a McCarty (both with wide/thin necks) back in the 90s and they were both exceptional guitars.
Great buy and enjoy it!!! :0)

But I've had this urge to try and play Electric guitar, bought a MIM Fender Telecaster, it was not comfortable to play, to heavy with sharp edgers but did like the guitar, then bought a Epiphone LesPaul, beautiful guitar but way to heavy for me, started to think I wasn't going to get an Electric guitar that sounded good, and was not to heavy and comfortable to play, then I bought this PRS guitar, and I'm very pleased with it, played it every day since I bought it, I'm sure this is a keeper, sounds excellent to me and the lightest weight guitar is ever played, and as a bonus, it looks dam good.

Hi Derick It is really hard making that transition from acoustic to electric and even harder to find an electric that suits you. As you say, most electrics are just too heavy and then you have to start adapting to a very different neck and fingerboard to say nothing of finding a pickup layout that works for you. I started with electric guitar and then changed to bass in about '68 as nobody wanted to play bass and everybody that played guitar was so much better than me!! I think you have chosen a pretty much perfect electric in the PRS Custom as you have truly excellent build quality and great pickups. The coil tap gives you so many more sounds and with a guitar weighing only 5lbs you have no issues with playing on a strap. I really hope this ends up being a keeper but keep on playing the acoustics!!

Hi Surfguy13 Thanks for the kind words, and I really like the PRS guitar, it's a keeper. I'm, not a very good guitar player, but you don't have to be good to enjoy the guitar. Must admit I do play the Acoustic guitar most of the time.
