At the end of 2020 I got the blessing from my wife to order a Turnstone for my 50th birthday. I wanted a British flavoured acoustic and after watching many Michael Watts’ videos and the fact that Martin Simpson had got a Turnstone, I contacted Rosie.
I only play fingerstyle and have moved completely to 12 fret guitars. After Skype calls and emails with Rosie I settled on a 12 fret TM with a Swiss Moon Spruce top. I wanted something different to rosewood and mahogany and we settled on Tassie Blackwood. Many guitars down under are made of that wood.
I ordered a 46mm nut and 25 inch scale. The neck is a V and the same profile as my Santa Cruz Eric Skye 00. Carolyn at Santa Cruz gave me the neck dimensions and Rosie has replicated this to a tee on the TM, it just feels like home. Like all my acoustics this has a beautiful slot headstock with the Turnstone bird carve and Waverley tuners. The blue purfling through out the guitar is amazing.

I have had the guitar about 4 weeks. When it arrived in to Brisbane DHL said they couldn’t deliver for 3 days but I was able to straight to their depot to pick it up. Handy living near the airport.
This guitar has more than exceeded my expectations. I’ve owned a number of guitars over the past 30 plus years, but this is something special. It’s so musical and I just lose myself playing it. It’s hard not to wax lyrical about the guitar and I look forward to how the guitar will open up and develop as I play it over the forthcoming years.
I keep it tuned half a step down but it’s also lived in D standard tuning and my other favourite CGCGCE. I’ve put Stringjoy 12s on it but will also give Santa Cruz low tensions a try as well.

The other surprise I had was that Michael Watts and Rosie filmed two videos before the guitar was shipped to me. I had the pleasure of exchanging emails with Michael about my guitar. He’s a great player.
