Not that it didn’t sound great before but over the last month or so my Brook seems to have acquired a new “depth” of tone. I’ve had it nearly a year so has it started to break in?
It’s been kept in the same room the temperature and humidity don’t seem to have changed markedly and the strings had reached the point where they normally start to sound a little dead when I noticed the change.
Any thoughts?

Good guitars get better the more you play them. My Santa Cruz Skye gets better every year, but it’s come alive and really opened up over the past year. It’s about 4 years old now. I also like to keep strings on till they are nearly dead.

Last Saturday morning at HB 14 my Martin 000 28 vs sounded wonderful. Why ? because Riverman was playing it!

Mine do that sometimes. I wish I knew why. Mind you I'd been going through a long period of not touching it and then started playing a little most days. Perhaps it was encouraging me.

I don't know the answer. But my guitars can sound great one day, then just so and so another day, I think it may have something to do with my hearing, or maybe just the mood I'm in.

Guys, have you checked your hygrometers lately? My house is usually about 45-50%. It is 60% currently, and my guitars sound great. Yes, I know they should be 45% ish, but there you are.

Just dug out a guitar that I haven't played for months and it sounds fantastic. Not that long ago I wanted to sell and replace it. Now you'll have to prise it out of my cold dead hands.
Weird.

I often find that my guitars sound better first thing in the morning. I don’t know why that should be…maybe my ears work better after a rest. I’m also convinced that guitars go to sleep if they’re not played for a few days and take a while to warm up.
