Something has been bugging me for a while- sometimes at string change time I use my telescopic inspection mirror to check the bridge plate, and so am able to see the k&k pickup. Although I am now thinking I haven't actually got a k&k pickup in my guitar. All pictures I have seen on the net show K&k's have a white label on top distinctly saying k&k. These don't. They are plain black- I've just checked again. The only white on the disc is the copious amounts of glue that must have been used to install it.
I know when Albert Lee owned this guitar he had an LR Baggs anthem, and when I picked up the guitar from Oasis it was described as having a k&k replacement of the anthem.
If its not a k&k I have no idea what it is- I know Howard at Oasis was at some point creating his own versions of the k&k out of readily available parts. It would certainly explain why my live sound is so sh*t !
I wish I could take a picture but its all I can do to precariously shine my phone's torch into the soundhole!

You can't have looked very far, Robbie, just Googling K&K mini transducers and selecting images shows loads of plain black ones in addition to those with K&K markings. As far as I can remember all mine (quite a large number!) have been plain black too.

I know the box that K&K come in show a K&K white label on each transducer but I haven't had any sets in a long time when labels were actually on the product. Just google K&K mini and look at all of the images, no label on most of them. Last time I fitted ones that had labels, they label came off onto the bluetac when fitting them. looking through my photos this is the only one I have of the top of the transducer as these was fitted to a classical so had to be fitted prior to closing the box (no bridge pin holes) As to the sound, they are critical on correct placement on the bridge plate, let's just say that some people are less than careful with this. I've always found them to be the most accurate acoustic sounding pickup and were the only ones that I would fit. Keith beat me to it! Colin

Thanks Colins- they look to be reasonably well placed, with the 3 discs in between each pair of strings. Oh well, must get that preamp, as I am sure that would solve almost all my issues Robbie

My experience of non-K&K soundboard transducers like the JJB is that the disks themselves are larger than the ones on the real K&Ks and are often encased in quite chunky plastic, so that might be a giveaway if it's another brand.
