Thanks for that gsans. He's very specific about what he does and it's quite different from those players who lift their guitars in the air and just move them back and forth. It's a very subtle change and complements the sound quite discreetly. I might try and incorporate it into some things myself. I'm not going to lift my guitar off my lap and wave it about at head height though...

I've seen a classical guitarist doing it. I found it a bit embarrassing because you were supposed to react as if you thought it was normal and appreciated the sound difference, which was non-existent.

Watching the latest uploads from HB15 CoD I was surprised and ashamed to see myself doing a "Youtube wiggle" at the end of a song.
Sorry.
I blame the whisky.

I’ve been having a think about this and noticed I do it at the end of certain songs.
The sound change is a kind of vibrato brought about by the Doppler effect of you moving the sound hole/board forwards and backwards. Laurence Juber does something with his right forearm on the sound board that gives a similar bit more subtle effect. That seems more about the amplitude of the sound wave going up and down not the frequency as effectively he damps the soundboard intermittently. .
The methods described in this thread all either work by changing the tension in the string slightly back and forth (pulling or pushing on the neck or wiggling the finger behind a fret) or the frequency of the sound wave back and forth by Doppler effect of physically moving the guitar body. .
As to moving your hand up and down the neck, I thought is was a dark art and sign of an accomplished guitarist. But in reality it’s neither and I think shows confidence in what your doing and fills in small gaps that kind of kept the rhythm or groove going. Or maybe it’s just an affectation…..

Keith Now there are even more CoD vids posted I am ashamed to realise that not only do I do the "Youtube wiggle" at the end of guitar songs, but I also do it at the end of uke songs - and pretty excessively so too. I'll go and stand in the corner for the rest of the day now... Keith
