I'm always changing guitars. There are one or two that I'd never part with, but other than that, constantly swapping or selling. Are you lot just as bad?

My main instrument is: probably needing new strings

There's a few on here who do a fair bit of buying and selling .. and many who've got what they want/can afford and are happy with that... we ALL get GAS at some stage, though! Personally, I get too attached to my instruments and could never sell them. Pass them on, maybe, but not sell 'em.
Still, never say never - I might need funds for that special something at some stage down the road, I guess!

The instruments that I obtain for my own use are mostly carefully researched, tried and tested and bought for their particular sound etc and are therefore fairly long-term purchases. Occasionally I'll buy something for a specific project and plan to sell it on once that has been achieved. Sometimes I just can't resist something (usually because it's cheap!) and will end up being tempted enough to buy it to have fun with for a while and/or do some work on to improve it and then sell on. Fun, innit?!

After building up a 'collection' without realising I was doing so, I'm now in the process of a severe rationalisation. I realised I wasn't playing all the guitars and I felt 'guilty' about having instruments and not playing them. By year end I hope to have a couple of beautiful, hand-made guitars and I'll see how I get on with them. That said, in blatant contradiction of my plan, I recently obtained a Sobell. Now I'm trying to sell it. Go figure... I suppose I'll carry on buying/selling guitars - just in a MUCH more circumspect fashion!

I suppose it will never end. If I had a sobell I wouldn't sell it, or would I?

I've swapped tons of guitars mostly electrics . I've owned and sold or swapped close to 40 electrics some good son great including a lovely epiphone led Paul custom in alpine white , a late fifties genuine fender strat that was given to me by a friend who moved to Norway and couldn't afford to take it with him . I got it for £500 but it was a bit rough and needed a refret I swapped it for a brand new American standard 2000 model and a 50 watt Marshall 1 x12 . That was my favorite and my brother in law still owns it , he's promised me first chance if he's ever selling it . Acoustic wise I've not had a lot . My most expensive was my Breedlove but although I loved the sound and playability I hated the cutaway on it . I love my Sigma and my Adam Black 12 but obviously I get gas for more expensive options including Martins and Lowdens as well as Dave's guitars , Tarans and Brooks and the like . I'm happy just now though as I feel my playing is about as good as my guitar and I don't think spending 2-3 grand would be justified ie I'm happy with a brilliant budget guitar that plays and sounds like it should cost much more and from a distance it looks like Clapton's ooo28 that was used on his unplugged DVD .

Oh yes. I enjoy "the hunt" for a new guitar. I think I always will. I can no longer afford to swap good guitars around and I have two that I want to keep.
I'm going to have a little fun with sub £100 guitars (the cheaper the better) - buying used on ebay, seeing how much bang I can get for my buck, then re-selling to buy the next one. At the moment I have a £50 1980 Yamaha FG-160 that will be hard to beat. A girl's got to have a hobby, right.....?

Not at the moment, it's currently my busking guitar. I love it! I would, however, swap it for your Lowden

I've bought and sold a lot of guitars (and other instruments), but only in the last six years. Before that I had the same acoustic guitar for 15 years and only changed my electric once.
Since becoming more enthused about acoustic guitars (and related instruments) and visiting forums, I've had great fun experimenting with different guitars, and must have gone through more than 20 different instruments all in, and although things are slowing down, I'm not quite finished yet.

Not at all. As long as the yamaha is accompanied by johnny and the pound notes.
