Apols John, my previous post was just trying to be realistic! But, your latest post is excellent news! Very pleased for you. Do try to get some sleep in the meantime though! Keith

Good news that the end is in sight. I'm just amazed at the way so many of the members here have the patience to wait for so many months for a guitar - however good the end result! Hats off to you all for your resolve - I find that having to wait overnight for one to be set up is too long. Mark

I wasn't ignoring your post Keith, it just knocked back my excitement a bit. BUT, I had a post from Roger yesterday saying it would be ready around the end of June. Lovely. Smileys again now John Very exciting news!

Thanks all for nice comments. I'll try to be patient for the next 6/7/8 weeks. It's not all bad. Four of those weeks will be spent in Majorca

Well, it did take longer than expected but, i'm off to Penrith on Thursday to collect my new guitar. Oh happy day, oh happy day - and so on. I'll report back around Christmas time. You know. When I eventually put it down . John

Congratulations sweyne1! Have a wonderful time in Penrith (I was there seeing Roger two weeks ago) and even more fun when you get you hands on your new guitar. Brian

I ordered an Alexander about six weeks ago, and Roger estimated 7-8 months wait. Should I worry?
Looking forward to your report about your new guitar! Enjoy!:-)

Brilliant, John! I'm sure the long wait will prove very worthwhile! Hope your wait isn't too bad, dobro

Thanks all for good wishes and i'll pass on your greetings to Roger, Keith. The original build time, dobro, was 12-14 months which i'm sure I mentioned in the early posts. It has taken 18 months but, as Keith has mentioned previously patience is needed. As an example of possible delays I know Roger was ill recently (don't know for how long) and you can't just call in a temp to carry on that type of work. Having said that, a lead time of 7-8 months does imply maybe that Roger's order book is not as full as it was so maybe yours will be ready sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed. John

Maybe the "...teens" got lost in translation/hearing...?! If your guitar is a pretty much standard Alex, ie a relatively "quick" and "simple" build, there's a chance he may be hoping to fit it in somewhere between and/or alongside more time consuming and complex commissions. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. It will be worth the wait though. Keith

Thanks all, I wasn't implying any negativity in my comment, rather a GAS-induced sigh.. The first few weeks the guitar was on my mind ALL the time, but now I feel every day life creeping back. Sweyne1's updates brought the GAS back with full force! But, as I said, I'm very happy for you, and look forward to picks, comments and maybe soundclips? Play on! Regards John

Great trip yesterday (I ended up doing it in one day because I ballsed up the Hotel res - 614 miles. I'm too old for that nowadays). The important stuff. The guitar is gorgeous. Roger was his usual welcoming self, Moira also who was in the office (I didn't get to meet her when I ordered the guitar last year. She's lovely). It was a very unfussy process. Roger gave me the guitar and a seat to try it out, Moira made me a mean cup of tea and they left me to enjoy myself. Which I did. It also sounded gorgeous in spite of my amateurish efforts. I won't go into great detail now because i'll be posting again soon once i've had a chance to get to know my new love better. When I got home and told Sue that I love Alex she took it completely the wrong way and said she wants a divorce. Oh well. John
