I need about 5 sturdy cardboard boxes suitable to ship guitars (some with cases) Awhile back I bought 5 from an ebay seller who I can't find now. There are individual boxes on ebay for sale at £12+ each, but I can't pay that much.
The local guitar shop has quit giving out boxes, they were a bit irate with me the last time I asked so I'd rather not do it again. Also as we no longer have a car, something that could be shipped to me would be handy.
Any suggestions?

I've got one but I'm miles away from you. If any members live near you, and also frequent the Blackburn/Preston/Lancaster or Morecambe areas, they would be welcome to pick it up.

I can't believe a guitar shop would be funny about giving out boxes. They only throw them away for the most part. Dawsons in Leeds have let me have a few in the past no problem.

Go to a bike shop and get a bike box. They generally can't wait to get rid of them, especially this time of the year. Very sturdy and easily adaptable for shipping a guitar! All the best, Alistair

I agree, but in my experience it's almost like some shops resent people selling guitars second hand on ebay. I went to four separate guitar/music stores last year when I was needing a shipping box, and while for the most part they were polite, none of them provided a box. One or two asked me to come back later after a specific delivery, but still no joy after return visits. One guy even asked me why I needed it, and had I sold a guitar on ebay? Go to a bike shop and get a bike box. They generally can't wait to get rid of them, especially this time of the year. Very sturdy and easily adaptable for shipping a guitar! All the best, Alistair Great advice. Bike boxes are very big and sturdy, and though I haven't used one to send a guitar, I have one one in storage for the next time I do sell an instrument.

I got a heavy duty cardboard guitar box from the nice people at The Music Room, Cleckheaton. Used it to ship my Yamaha LA-8 after selling it on ebay. It was nicked in transit.

Thanks everyone, Paul 007 is going to help me get the boxes. I did understand the guitar shops anger, they are a struggling small business and the owner said the people coming in to get boxes (for guitars they have sold on ebay) do not use the shop for anything else. Very similar to all the people in our neighbourhood who come in to our shop and ask for free bones but buy all their meat at ASDA. I have used the guitar shop sparingly over the years (due to expense mainly) and have had more than my fair share of free boxes so can't really complain... There is a bike store here but it is quite far from where we live. A big box like that would be pretty awkward to carry home on foot but I will definitely keep it in mind if I need more boxes.
