Let me please start by stating that I love acoustic guitars and playing acoustic guitars.
I think I have reached a plateau in my playing. I mainly play to accompany myself singing my country songs and therefore I do basic finger style and strumming. I would love to introduce some more interesting fills in the solo guitar sections instead of repeating the chord patterns but I need a kick up the backside to get me to do it. How do you all motivate yourselves to keep learning?

Youtube helps me a lot with motivation. I started out on classical, but reached a plateau when I was bored with stuff that was realistically within my ability, but the stuff I liked was way beyond my ability. It was hard to find the right level of difficulty to try to improve. Youtube inspires me to try different styles. It's been a great morale booster for me.

Is there anyone you can play with who is more skilled than you? Playing with people better than myself inspires me and helps me figure out my weak points. Watching what they are doing helps me learn, too.

Everyone I play with is more skilled than me! Thank you for your tips. I have recently started playing with a friend of mine so I will attempt to learn!

I too love youtube - loads of useful stuff on there (amongst the not so useful stuff!)
I am obviously lazy and need to make more of an effort

I think as said above, playing with others is always a good way of staying inspired and maybe getting a good tutor to perhaps point out a few new things to spice it up is always a good option.
