Or if not buying, what is your next acquisition, in terms of instrument?
I recently got an old concertina, and I regularly scour the local used ads for a little gem.
Anyone got anything in particular planned?

Nothing planned at the moment although I really want an Ivory Hiscox pro case for the Freshman and a K&K pickup for the Sigma . But I still have a hankering for an all Mahogany/ Sapele tenor guitar .

Im getting a Faith Mercury. Im going to have to sell to make way though. I thought long and hard about it, and I think the little martin wouldn't be the right choice long term. The Faith Mercury is a nice small size, nice short scale and all solid. Im not too fond of the Naked series a bit bland for me. The high gloss too expensive plus im not fond of all gloss. Looking at the natural lacquered top satin everywhere else, binding and ebony fret board ect.. Or possibly the trembesi series I hear they are not making it anymore and not many places have these left so I may have to move fast, the grain of the back and sides on the trembesi wood is beautiful..

Kev I'm not saying anything against all gloss laminated guitars as its mostly what I've owned thus far but the satin finish on my Freshman plus it being all solid has really started opening up at least I think that's why , the more I play the better it gets so goodness knows how good it'll be in a years time . I quite like the look of the little Ed Sheeran sapele model but hate the graphics and black tuners ,nut etc...I think your probably making the better choice . Are you getting rid of your new Sigmas? If so I'd really think hard about it as you've just got them . Best of luck.

Many guitars I would like to purchase but wont afford them or someone making sure I dont go too silly buying guitars.
Atm if i was purchasing an instrument it would either be a Lowden O model or a Hollway Harp Guitar.
But in the end I think I would buy a garage full of tools to make my own Instrument.

Bernd's Martin SWDGT. The way things are going, it may well end up as my only guitar...

Hi Del..
Well to be honest I rushed into getting the Sigma 000r-28v though its a fantastic guitar, but I originally bought a Martin 000x1ae heavily advised by the shops salesman. However I took it back next day not all happy with it. I felt I was talked into the purchase but the shop would not let me return it for money back but credit not only, so the Sigma was the only guitar there I liked but there was a 140 euro difference in price I argued with them for a while and they eventually gave me back 70 euro cash and 70 credit. Incidentally I went to the shop across the way looking at faiths the same day..
Although the sigma is a wonderfull guitar it wasn't my first choice more of I had to choose.
Anyway since then I have noticed that the is a hump in the neck, around the 14 fret where the neck meets the body. Slackening the truss rod increased the hump, straightening it out caused fret buzz especially with capo on further down the neck, it has been sent back to the distributers. The shop thinks they will likely replace it, id rather my money back but id say they wont budge either way the love I had for it is gone unfortunately.
I picked up the travel guitar because had a 70 euro credit note to use up and I had a xmas bonus burning a whole in my pocket. I was working away a lot at the time not so much now, so probably gonna move them both on.
with that money I could get a good all solid faith mercury which size wise sits between the two. I find the 000 a uncomfortable to play compared to the travel and the travel really comfortable but not so good tone.
The Faith mercury has a slightly shorter scale of 24 inch and relatively smaller body more like 0 or 00 All solid is a big plus too... O and it comes in a stunning hard case... I want one good guitar I can grow with....

Just strings. Put an order in today; resisted the temptation to buy a Newport capo.

Shame about that pressure from a salesman Kev, but not unusual unfortunately. The alien environment of the shop with all the distractions and noise doesn't help either. It's so easy to think a choice is right at the time, but then find cold reality dawning at home. Getting to know a guitar properly is a long term thing - running into weeks or even months for me - only then can I can ever truly tell if a guitar is right for me. Unfortunately that does not rule out the possibility of falling out of love with the instrument at some point in the future as I know to my cost! Fortunately at the moment any time I feel tempted by a guitar I see or hear about, I can pick up my TW73 and be so happy with the sound that I just lose all desire for another. Anything that would be sufficiently better to consider is likely to be way out of my price bracket as well. I'll try and enjoy this situation as long as it lasts. Would that be the same as far as other instruments go. The simmering and bubbling GAS (G as in "gear") remains regarding a cittern. I fear that this particular bout of GAS has been rumbling on so long now that a purchase is becoming inevitable. Mark

I feel exactly the same. It's all a learning process, I think it takes years to know exactly what you want and even then, what you want may change.

Well, having bought a couple of new things after my house move recently, no more purchases at the moment. This is what I've acquired: This is my new Gator amp case, one of the best bits of kit I've ever bought. Now very easy to move all my gear around. My amp fits neatly inside: But then the case becomes a stand on which to mount the amp- brilliant! Also bought a Strymon El Capistan tape delay- simply brilliant- tape echo is far more subtle (if you want it to be) than full blown digital delay. Also has a simple tape style looper. The whole thing is brilliant for dub style effects as well. Robbie

Never really been a GASser, and I'm in the happy position of being content with the instruments I've got. I may change the cone in my Dobro at some stage, but it already sounds good to me, so there's no hurry.

Rob - I've heard the Strymon effects are amazing! I don't know why but there are few things as enjoyable for effects pedals as using a good delay.
*** I'm not planning to buy anything (aside from strings) but I'm planning to sell quite a few bits and pieces including several guitars, a amplifier, some microphones, and a few effect pedals. I seemed to have acquired a lot of stuff I no longer use....
