Over on the other forum there is a build thread going of this guy's guitars: astrandguitars.comThen I came across the great Martin Tallsman giving his wonderful looking OM a work out: I just think the tone here is stunning. I love the look of his OM- not quite OM in shape, but beautiful lines: I see he learnt with Kostal, and there are certainly a few Kostalations in terms of trim: Also sound- that clip above reminds me very much of Jonny's Kostal sound. Heck, I thought I had got over GAS, but I am seriously in love!! Robbie

I heard that clip and wished there wasn't so much reverb on the recording but a beautiful guitar nonetheless.
There are some really talented young European luthiers who seem to be under the radar but are making guitars that equal if not more to their American counterparts, with a few from Sweden Ted Astrad, Gustav Fredell.

Looking forward to the first of Ted's guitars arriving at TNAG in the not too distant future!

Yes, I think Martin could make anything sound good. Definitely one of those players whose sound is in his fingers. I downloaded his arrangement of He Aint Heavy- really good stuff, and it helps as well playing it on my Brook and then comparing it to the sound in the video.

I stumbled across Ted's website a few months ago and am very taken with his work, the details of which, in some cases, bear a close resemblance to others of the Somogyi school - think Ray Kraut, Jason Kostal, Gustav Freddel et al. I'd love to get up close and personal with one or several of his guitars. Maybe a long weekend trip to Stockholm is in order ...
It is also true to say the Martin Tallström is a really great player and arranger, one of my favourite players out there...
Cheers,
Ian

I loved playing vicov's Fredell at Halifax. Beautiful instrument in looks and tone - though the case weighed twice as much as the guitar
