Well, for less than £800 for an all solid, nitro finished, US built guitar in a decent (Canadian) hardcase, with a fitted Baggs pickup I am more than happy. It has the classic midrange thump of a singer-songwriter guitar that the huge and spacey Lowden O or little honky parlour couldn't achieve, but doesn't feel like a big comedown from what I'm used to (which some of the other things I tried really did, and I know they wouldn't have been keepers). I'm kind of happy about the all ethically sourced woods as well.

I've now had a weekend to play this and it has shattered an awful lot of my preconceptions about guitars. I've never been wild about US guitars as I've always found them a bit anodyne - the Santa Cruz in my profile pic was a short lived dalliance amongst many Fyldes, a couple of Avalons and Lowdens, but this Gibbo is something else. Any of my sniffiness about "factory" versus handmade instruments is severely challenged too. It's beautifully finished inside and out and the thin nitro is a thing of wonder.
It definitely makes me play differently and I found myself flat picking American and Irish tunes, playing in open D, and it's a phenomenal singing guitar. It was a punt, but at only £300 more than the Sigma I really hope this is a keeper.

I have to say that I have googled it and it looks a really lovely looking guitar in all respects. J15 reviewMaybe I will see and hear you playing it at Halsway? Phil

Sad to say they don't have one at £800 any more - I've just checked the pics and that's my guitar and safe in my sweaty mitts. I paid £30 less than the listing.

Ah well, that's another story, but both of those in the listing have the same serial number and same ding on the front as mine (and each other!)

the photos aren't quite the same but it's still 10085037 unless my browser caching is doing something a bit odd.

Well anyway, they definitely had one on Saturday afternoon and, just to add to the mystery, the price ticket said £799...

Oh, and they also had a lovely little (recent) Lowden S32 which had just come in that day as a part exchange. It's not on the website yet, though I wouldn't be surprised if it's already gone at the bargain price of £2199 or thereabouts. (that was the result of my one experience of trying, as a teenager, smoking my dad's pipe Phil Taylor ...)

I tried a few Gibsons in Dawsons Manchester and I have tried used Gibson at Frailers.
I am afraid they do not do it fo me at all, I found them heavy, difficult to play and lacking in sound quality.
I have a desire to own a good second hand Gibson but I have yet to find one I like.
BTW - the Epiphone's feel and play much better in my opinion.
