So I turn up at Guitar club last night and the usual suspects are there plus this young lad (17) wearing Buddy Holly glasses with a very nice Gibson J45 LH so we start of with the CODeath and it comes to thisLad who plays a song what he wrote. Well you could feel the room atmosphere change. There are some pretty impressive players at this GC many who stood there just went went WOW but this lad played a stand out song that had you heard on the radio you would have thought thats pretty neat (is the common parlance I believe) . The second song he played was just as good and his third was a very adept finger picking version of S & G April come she will Turns out he has been playing a long, long time like 4 years Anyway the upshot of this was that we had an emergency committee meeting during the break and with immediate effect nobody under the age of 50 will be allowed to attend GC particularly anyone who writes and sing their own songs and can play more than 3 khordz That'll learn em Bloody teenage wonders

Quite agree. These under 50 year-old whippersnappers should be at home with their parents, reading improving books.

Shouldn't be allowed such a nice guitar so young. You should have to serve your time on a piece of junk like what I had to. Bloody kids. (0:

I put it down to the fact the standard of teaching material is so good these days, loads of great books, DVDs, tab, endless optimised ways of learning etc etc, just think how brilliant we would all be if we'd had the benefit of these!

You want to try living with someone who is a very accomplished guitar player. My son makes sounds on his guitars I can only dream of. He's got a very cheap Encore acoustic in his room and he makes sound sweat. Trouble is his mum won't let me throw him out. What makes it worse is he can play his guitar all day and she doesn't say a word. If I play for more than hour I get moaned at? .

What makes it worse is he can play his guitar all day and she doesn't say a word. If I play for more than hour I get moaned at? . Paints a nice picture this does A semi in Cambridge occupied by the Gilmour family. Young David is in his room as usual playing an unrefined version of what was to become STH on a battered old Regal In the kitchen mum and dad are listening with one ear whilst the go about various tasks Dad " I really don't know what possessed us to buy him that guitar for his birthday he has done nothing but waste his time on it, his studies have gone to waste his mates don't come round any more and all we get is these girls in short skirts coming round all the time. I mean he is nearly 15 his O level's next year whats he going to do play the f**king guitar all his life" Mum "Don't worry dear its just a phase boys of his age go through , he'll find a nice girl start going out with her and then she will see him through his o levels and uni The guitar thing will fade away and there will be something else to take its place". The scene moves to a detached house in Newcastle at around the same period. Its 9am on a wet and cold Saturday night A bespectacled Hank Marvin still under his given name of Brian Robson Rankin with his friend Bruce Welch are playing the acoustic guitars they bought at the market and learning what will be the opening 3 chords to Apache. The scene moves to the kitchen there is a banging on the wall from the neighbours next door Dad "They have been in that bedroom playing those guitars since 11 this morning always the same bloody song, its unnatural it is, two grown lads in the bedroom for so long at the weekend they ought to be at the match or out with their mates, whats the matter with him is he a and as for those stupid glasses what does he look like Mum' Calling up the stairs Brian dear the neigbours are complaining about the noise again and its very late can you go up the scout hut and play Dad also shouting up the stairs "And learn another bloody song you'll never get anywhere with just one song and, and put some words in can't just have twanging guitars its not natural Oh Happy Day
