On my Docherty guitar there is some adjustment that needs to be done. I need to bring the action down, I can do this no problem but the problem is that the neck is dead straight with the truss rod hardly engaged, there needs to be some relief added or else there is buzzing, however, the truss rod in the neck is a single action one so that can't be used to bend the neck forward, to add some relief would I just loosen off the truss rod then let the string tension to pull the neck forward?

Best bet is to talk to Terry Docherty and ask his advice.

Dave's advice is the one to follow - take it back and Terry should be able to sort it in no time.

I got in touch with him and he said that because the truss rod is a single action one that it is just a matter of loosening off the truss rod and allowing the string tension to do the rest and create relief, I've bought some heavier strings to help with the process.
