Whilst buying some strings, at lunchtime, I was oggling some acoustics and the shop guy said, have a go. I thought why not and grabbed a rather fetching, slope shouldered dread, from Gibson. Turns out it's a J-15. A new-ish model at around a grand. Sitka top, with walnut B&S, with a lovely maple neck. Wow! I really liked this guitar. No frills, just a very handsome, great sounding acoustic. Plenty of middle, I thought, not all bass and sparkle, to seduce the ears. Strong and vibrant, with an attractive definition. Nice to play too. I really enjoyed the feel of the neck and fretboard. Oh well, where'd I put that grand?

Grayn,
You made a trip to a guitar shop and you have no NGD to speak of?
You've let me down.
More importantly, you've let yourself down.

I love the look and sound of these, and really need to try one. I can't justify a purchase, but surely looking can't do any harm?

Have tried a few of these now, one was nowhere near as good as a £500 Faith, one was ok and one was really nice like the one you tried, was quite tempted myself with the good one.

I am hoping to start saving for a J-45 myself, I have wanted one for a while, and I have missed owning a Gibson since I sold my J-35 (although I don't regret it), I just need to find a way to save the money, there's something about Gibson's that I love

I'd always preferred Martins but it seems Gibson have really started to get their act together, over the last couple of years, producung some less flashy/cheesy looking models that are just really good guitars.

Hi there. I have played my pals expensive Gibson and a few martins and there's no doubt they are class. I couldn't scrape that sort of cash together, so I purchased a Faith Mercury scoop parlour in black for £665.00 and I am blown away by it plugged and unplugged , I prefer it to my friends mega expensive babies. Of course it is subjected to personnel taste but its everything I want from a guitar at half the price.
