I have a guitar that is signed by one of my favourite musicians, however, since getting it signed I have not wanted to take it out for fear of damaging the signature. I have a signed album, photos of the guitar getting signed and I also have a photograph with him.
Should I remove the signature and start using the guitar without fear?

That rather depends on why you wanted it signed in the first place, doesn't it? But, unless you want to hang it on the wall or keep it in a glass case, rather than remove it why not just play the guitar wherever you want to, and let the signature take its chances. Whatever it looks like, you'll always have the memory (and the photographic record) of the signing.

Assuming you are not "extracting the Michael" I think a pic of the guitar plus signature would be useful before giving any advice...

That signature would be safe on my guitar - I never get up that end

I'd say that looks like the safest position on a guitar body for a signature - the least likely to be rubbed off (for me anyway). Even so, I say play it. Unless it's now worth thousands of pounds, obviously

Just a thought, but could you cut down a clear pickguard to go over the signature? It shouldn't be visible unless someone was looking really closely, and would protect the signature for evermore.

I've seen JTE live a few times, once he had the excellent Jason Isbell open for him then play back up during his set. I think his godfather Townes Van zandt's live at the old quarter is one of the best albums I own. He's touring Aus again right now, I have all his albums just got Absent Fathers and Single Mothers. JTE was just interviewed on the ABC www.abc.net.au/lateline/content/2015/s4210399.htmHope it works in the northern hemisphere.
