Right, I'm just back ... a great evening of music was had by all. guitbrett started the evening off with a tribute to John Renbourn (played on his Viator travel guitar like wot scorpiodog has gotted). He explained a bit about what the evening was about - launching his exhibition and raising funds for the charity 'Future Talent'. he then introduced bensmithguitar who did a set of 6 songs including the marvellous Ray Charles number "Halleujah, I just Lover Her So" (played in F for some ungodly reason!), "You Can't Do That No More", "I Don't Believe In Angels" and "Let Me Down Easy". He also played a song that was new to me, was not a bluesy number, and the name of which I didn't get but was possibly called "Summertime Waltz" and was really lovely. Ben had managed to blow up his mate's car on the way to the gig so had arrived, rather flustered, in a RAC van ... the life of the superstar on the road, eh? Ben gave way on stage to Michelle Breeze who sang the title track from Evita (a part she played in the original West End production for over 3 years). It was something of a shock to the system when she launched into a few rocky numbers - including "Holding Out For A Hero". What a voice, although, sitting in the front row, I felt a wee bit vulnerable when she started swinging the microphone stand around her head! Just before the interval, there was an auction - JHS had supplied 4 signature guitars to be auctioned off for the charity (fittingly enough a Recording King John Etheridge, and Vintage signature guitars of Gordon Giltrap, guitbrett and Ray Burley). Gav from JHS was on hand to display, but not play, the instruments whilst they were auctioned by Nigel Smith of Tennants. The RK John Etheridge (above) went for about 2/3 of its RRP - someone got a bargain! The 4 guitars raised nearly £2k for the charity. After the interval it was the main event - Etheridge, Giltrap and Burley. 3 very different guitarists, 3 very different guitars but they sounded fantastic together. They played a number of songs (well, tunes) in a variety of combinations - each having a solo and playing with one other member of the trio. The set opened, and closed, with all three playing Giltrap's composition "Maddy Goes West" Paul's Viator got another run out for Gordon Giltrap's solo - his instrumental arrangement of 'Here Comes The Sun' John Etheridge used a loop pedal to great effect - which is presumably why he stood up for his solo - playing a choon by a South African piano player. It all finished rather too soon but, as there was a journey to be driven across the moors at night, I shouldn't have been too upset. It's great to hear fantastic music and know that, in doing so, you're helping out young musicians. 'Twas a grand evening of entertainment, so it was

Superb pics, Leo. That Viator must be really tiny, or else Paul and Gordon have grown a heck of a lot

The Viator is on the small side ... I suppose it IS billed as a travel guitar. I tell non-guitar friends that it's a Terz guitar cos they haven't the foggiest what that means and makes me sound knowledgeable Having said that, Gordon Giltrap is not the world's largest man... Photos aren't brilliant - I did get a front row seat (courtesy of some good British queuing) but the iPhone isn'r great when you zoom and I didn't want to risk the flash so I edited them with a filter to try and make them look more arty. It's what jonnymosco would've done Posting your catalogue later this morning - you should get it Saturday
