I've been toying with the idea of building a cigar box guitar, but I was thinking of taking it to a new level... A 12 string cigar box guitar.
A while ago I got a wrecked 12 string to practice neck resets on, I got the the neck off but then the body disintegrated so I was left with a 12 string neck, bridge, endblock etc which have sat in my cupboard for a while.
A cigar box would not be big enough so I would probably just make a box out of plywood, do you think a cigar box 12 string would be a project that may work?

There's a question for the luthiers!
Having absolutely zero experience in this I would have thought that the string tension on the box would mean you'd need massive bracing on any box, let alone a plywood/MDF box. My cigar box guitar has 3 strings - so would your 12-er have 6 (as it were)?

Alex, Do a bit of Googling The cost of the cigars to get a box that size might cost more than a pukka 12 string though

I think I have a plan, I just measured up the case of a portable gramophone and the size is just about perfect, I'm not going to tear apart one of my complete machines but if I can find a redundant case then that may be the answer
